However, this is just about the funniest thing I've read all year. This beats all film adaptations of the book by a long shot. It's the definitive version of Pride and Prejudice. I daresay it would be impossible to improve upon it.

That was ridiculously hilarious. Also, I find that I no longer feel an urge to defend Austen, as John managed to do so quite well for me. For the record, Pride and Prejudice is just a fun book, it is not a great example of early feminist literature, and I don't mind if you don't like it, just so long as I maintain my own personal right to consider it absolutely fabulous (to which I am sure you won't object.) My only real disagreement is that I do not think Elizabeth married Darcy because of his wealth. Actually that very point got brought up in a book I was just listening to, and I disagreed with it strongly there as well.
